Claire Sugden proposed motion at Northern Ireland assembly

Claire Sugden Motion in the Northern Ireland Assembly On 25th February Claire Sugden, Independent MLA & Former Justice Minister proposed a Motion in the Northern Ireland to embed planning and ensuring long term sustainability in public services with regard to older people.

At present one in six people are aged over 65. This is expected to rise to one in five by 2030 , one in four by 2040 & one in two by 2070. As a result the Motion called on the Executive/NI Assembly to ; manage increased demand on health and social care for older people, have enough resources available for older people, make sure there is sustainable housing and public transport for older people, and, crucially, to ensure that support is provided to allow older people to remain their own homes.
